We had the last visit with our social worker tonight. She came and spent about 2 hours at the house with us talking about our relationship, our ideas about parenting, etc. She asked about open adoption, relationships with the birthmother, and went over our grid [see Adoption Class #2] again.
She was such a wonderful person, I didn’t want her to leave! We felt so comfortable with her and feel very lucky to have been assigned her as our social worker.
So, that’s it! WE ARE OFFICIALLY ON THE LIST!!! This whole process has lasted about 6 months, and it went by so fast. We had meetings, classes, more meetings, wrote papers, filled out hundreds of forms (ok, dozens-but it felt like hundreds), and have created our profiles. We have done all that’s required, and now we have “passed the test”.
So now what happens? Well, we wait. We could get called as early as next week, or it could be a few months. Only time will tell. We both have a feeling (as does everyone else) that it will happen very fast.
We are trying to be prepared…stocking up on supplies, gathering things for baby….we are so excited!
We went for a walk after the social worker left and I was practically skipping! I could barely contain myself.
WE CAN’T WAIT TO BE PARENTS!!! YIPPEEEE!!!
I’ll keep you all posted on the progress. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!
And to all of you who have been reading my blog throughout this process, thanks so much for all of your support through this process. It was a huge help. XOXO
